5 Villages, One Valley
Surrounded by an impressive mountain scenery, a paradise for man and nature presents itself. The 5 Wildschönau villages extend from Niederau, Oberau, Mühltal and Auffach up to Thierbach at 1,175 meters above sea level. Right in the middle, our 3-star Hotel Haflingerhof can be found in a quiet location, with a perfect connection to the "Skijuwel Wildschönau-Alpbachtal" skiing area and the hiking trails of the Wildschönau.
In summer and winter, the Wildschönau high valley in the Kitzbühel Alps has a wide variety to offer for families, riders and sports enthusiasts. State-of-the-art cable cars also encourage our guests to engage in summer activities in the Tyrolean mountains. Down in the valley, traditional festivals and the typically Tyrolean hospitality are waiting to be discovered. The Wildschönau is proof that relaxation and activity holidays do not have to be mutually exclusive.
An Eldorado
for active vacationers
As the Wildschönau is a high valley, the difference in altitude between valley and mountain is not too big. Thus, there are many manageable hiking destinations for lovers of nature without a lot of mountain experience. Another reason why the Wildschönau is an ideal destination for your family holidays. Numerous well signposted hiking paths offer fun even for the smallest ones and refreshing streams as well as cooling forests provide for some variety while hiking.
When aiming higher, our state-of-the-art cable cars can help you along. The Schatzberg, our local mountain here in Auffach offers hiking fun for all generations right from the doorstep. With the cable car, you can conveniently go up to almost 1,800 meters about sea level.
In winter, the "Schatzberg" skiing area in Auffach as well as the "Skijuwel Wildschönau-Alpbachtal" provide for a skiing adventure ranking among the top 10 in Tyrol. The Skijuwel Wildschönau-Alpbachtal came into being due to the affiliation of the Schatzberg and Alpbachtal skiing areas. It consists of over 110 kilometers of perfectly groomed slopes, 45 lifts as well as 25 ski huts. A really impressive offer. The region around the Schatzberg mountain also has plenty in store for you in summer.
Treat yourself to an exciting experience in one of the most spectacular high rope courses in Europe, or fly high at the Wildschönau paragliding school. And there’s even more: Whether it is biking in summer, cross-country skiing or ski touring in winter… discover a valley full of adventures at the Wildschönau.
Delight
& Tradition
A total of 4 federal marching bands give concerts on a regular basis and accompany the many summer festivals in the Wildschönau with more than 10 choirs. At these festivals as well as at many other events, Wildschönau classics such as "Brodakråpfn" are served. Not only locals stand in line for this delicacy.
Speaking of delicacies: The Wildschönau Krautinger belongs to a special category. This schnaps made of autumn turnips is distilled exclusively by local farmers and thus an obligatory treat on every alpine hut.
Experience Tyrolean delight and tradition during your visit at the Auffach show dairy. Multi-award winning types of cheese can be tasted and purchased here. The First Tyrolean wood museum here in Auffach shows the diversity of wood and takes both children and adults on a journey through the tradition of woodworking.
Pure pleasure can of course also be found on the many alpine huts of the Wildschönau, where you can enjoy homemade delicacies. This makes hiking even more fun for the kids.
