Hiker's paradise
The extensive network of hiking trails surrounding our Haflinger farm has something for everyone: in the valley, you’ll find leisurely paths connecting one village to another. For ambitious hikers, there are numerous mountains starting at 1,500 meters, featuring rustic, well-maintained alpine pastures.
Experienced hikers are rewarded with picturesque views at 2,300 meters above sea level. Thanks to the summer cable cars, even young mountaineers can enjoy “cable-assisted” hiking.
Natural gorge
The Kundler Klamm is one of Austria’s most beautiful natural gorges and impressively connects the Wildschönau with the Inn Valley. The well-maintained trail, approximately 3.5 kilometers long, winds through rock faces up to 200 meters high; it is family-friendly, stroller-accessible, and ideal for a relaxing outing in unspoiled nature.
Nature recreation area
This nature recreation area is located at an elevation of 1,180 meters at the idyllic end of the Wildschönau valley and is a popular destination for those seeking relaxation and nature lovers. Surrounded by alpine meadows and mountains, the sun-drenched terrace, fresh alpine air, and a variety of trails—ranging from leisurely strolls to challenging summit hikes—invite you to linger and explore.
The highest mountain village
Thierbach is the smallest and highest village in the Kitzbühel Alps. At an elevation of about 1,150 meters, the village is characterized by tranquility, traditional farmhouses, and a small parish church. Surrounded by hiking trails and alpine meadows, it is ideal for day trips—a stop at the historic Sollererwirt rounds off the experience in a cozy way.
Mountain bike
Ride with the wind at your back through the Wildschönau. Whether you prefer classic mountain biking or a brisk ride on an e-bike, there’s plenty to discover. An ever-growing selection of trails is sure to thrill MTB enthusiasts. Leisurely e-bike rides are possible on a wide variety of paths.
Biking is fun for the whole family. Our reception team will be happy to recommend a mountain bike route that suits your needs.
Various challenging trails
Trail running in the Wildschönau offers a runnable nature experience amidst forests, alpine meadows, and sweeping mountain ranges. The gently rolling alpine landscape provides ideal conditions for enjoyable trails with panoramic views—diverse, easy to run, and far removed from extremely technical terrain. Thanks to its balanced topography, the region is suitable for both beginners and ambitious runners.
A growing network of routes of varying difficulty levels winds through the entire high valley. Rest stops at rustic alpine huts along the trails make trail running in Wildschönau a perfect combination of sport, nature, and the Tyrolean way of life.
At one of the paragliding hotspots in Tyrol
Why not take to the skies over Wildschönau? Thanks to its excellent thermal conditions, the Markbachjoch in Niederau is an extremely popular paragliding spot. In addition to paragliding courses, the Wildschönau Flight School also offers tandem flights for those on a whim.
The alpine pastures at Markbachjoch offer a great view to watch the bustling paragliding activity. This way, children, dogs, and the less adventurous can also witness the paragliding adventure and enjoy the summer day with Wildschönau specialties.
Family excursions
Swimming, e-biking, a dedicated hiking program for families, as well as numerous playgrounds, wildlife viewing, mini-golf, the Wildschönau children’s program “Drachen-Club,” and, of course, horseback riding will add variety to your vacation here in Auffach. Drachenclub
There’s plenty to do at the Wildschönau Kite Club! Children ages 5 to 12 can look forward to an exciting outdoor program at the Kite Club. Relaxing barbecues at the homemade fire pit, panning for gold in the Wildschönau Ache, a visit to the “Fairy Tale Forest,” and llama hikes are just a few of the activities on offer.
