Breakfast on the mountain

Breakfast ride to the mountain inn with a view

The breakfast ride is a real highlight of the morning. We hop on our bikes early, setting off uphill before sunrise. Once we reach the top, a leisurely breakfast awaits, followed by a relaxed ride back down into the valley. Depending on where we stop for a break, we plan for about 2 to 4 hours in total.

  • About an hour in the saddle each way, with time in between to enjoy
  • Breakfast at the mountain inn included for hotel guests
  • Specialties from the high valley and the surrounding area, with a panoramic view as a bonus

Ideal if you want to combine nature, exercise, and enjoyment in one experience.

Questions & Answers

Riding vacation in the Wildschönau

What riding level do I have?

So that we can assign you the right horse and offer, please assess your riding ability realistically:

Beginner

You have little to no riding experience.

You may be sitting on a horse for the first time or have only ridden while being led so far.

Basics such as steering, stopping or balance are still new to you.

Intermediate

You can already sit independently in the saddle and trot safely.

Steering, stopping and simple arena figures are possible for you without assistance.

You have little or no experience with cantering.

Advanced

You are a confident rider and can control your horse in all gaits – including canter.

You have experience riding independently and can lead and assess your horse on your own.

This level is required for trail rides from the age of 6.

Pony riding / pony leading:
Possible for children aged 2 to 5.
A responsible accompanying person is required, ideally two accompanying persons.

Important for trail rides:
For our trail rides, an introductory indoor riding lesson is mandatory so that we can match horse and rider as well as possible.
Alternatively, a valid riding certificate (e.g. riding pass or Großes Hufeisen) may be presented for the alpine pasture ride.

General information:
Hotel guests and external guests are generally very welcome.
For riding lessons in the indoor arena, the minimum age is usually 6 years.

What equipment do I need for riding?

Please make sure you bring:

  • Helmet (helmet compulsory - free rental is available directly at the stables)
  • Sturdy shoes (ideally with a small heel)
  • Long trousers, preferably without seams on the inside of the legs to avoid chafing

In addition, we recommend:

  • Breeches
  • Gloves
  • Back protector (especially recommended for children)

Riding stores along the way:
Krämer in Irschenberg (near Munich), Krämer in Thaur/Innsbruck and Equiva in Innsbruck. In Wörgl (approx. 20 minutes before Wildschönau), the Raiffeisen-Lagerhaus also stocks a small range of riding clothing and accessories, e.g. pants, gloves, helmets and back protectors.

How do I register for riding lessons and rides?

Hotel guests and external guests can register in several ways:

  • At the reception: Directly on site at the Hotel Haflingerhof.

  • The day before, we will contact you by phone and confirm the appointment
  • If the appointment is not possible, we will be happy to suggest alternative dates
  • How long does a riding lesson last?

One riding lesson lasts approx. 50 minutes.
Please allow more time in total, so that there is enough time for short instructions, assignment of the horse, grooming, hoof trimming and saddling.

Rides are planned by the hour (e.g. 1, 2 or 3 hours).
Breakfast rides and Alpine rides are longer tours (approx. 2-4 hours or 5-6 hours depending on the offer)

Our Riding instructors Ramona & Vanessa and reception will be happy to provide you with detailed information on planning your day.

How does the pricing system (Tickets) work?

We generally charge for riding lessons and rides via riding tickets:

    • 1 ticket corresponds to 1 riding lesson in the hall or 1 hour on horseback.
    • For longer rides, several tickets are required accordingly.

Pony riding / pony leading is a fixed price (½ hour).

You can find the current price table on the price page.

Does riding also take place in bad weather?

Riding lessons in the hall are possible regardless of the weather.
Rides are dependent on the weather. We therefore confirm at short notice and plan so that it suits guests and horses.

What does "introductory indoor lesson" mean?

We want horse and rider to be a good match for rides and special tours.
The get-to-know-you indoor lesson helps us to achieve this:

    • Evaluate your ability correctly
    • Choosing the right horse
    • Ensure safety and fun in the terrain

Do I have to be a hotel guest to take part?

No. External guests and locals can also book riding lessons, rides and pony rides, depending on availability.
Hotel guests always have priority when demand is high, so we recommend booking early.
